Delicious & Dairy Free: Creamy Avocado Cocoa Lunch Shake

Delicious & Dairy Free: Creamy Avocado Cocoa Lunch Shake

I’m all about the lunch shakes these days. I don’t add any protein powders or anything like that – this baby is just fresh ingredients. And on busy days, it’s nice to blend my lunch and drink it on the go. And this one is creamy, delicious, dairy-free, and actually holds you over ’till dinner!

This shake has so many benefits: the healthy fats of the avocado, the potassium from the banana, Vitamin D from the almond milk, not to mention the Ceylon cinnamon, honey, and cocoa. The ingredients meld perfectly together for a creamy mid-day treat – one that never makes me feel guilty! (Oh, as a side note: here’s why I prefer Ceylon cinnamon.)

This shake is also great for busy moms with little ones. Since it only calls for half of an avocado, half goes in my shake and the other half is for Penelope when it’s her lunchtime that same day. I just mash it up and squeeze some lemon juice on it, and she goes nuts for it. It’s the perfect amount of food for her. And it beats wasting it, because we all know trying to save an avocado for longer than a day usually means it turns to a brown gooey mess by the time you’re ready to eat it…blech.

OH, and do you remember my “Inside-Out Iced Coffee” post from last week, with my Bulletproof coffee cubes? Well on days I need an extra little “kick”, I put these cubes in my shake instead of regular ice cubes. L-O-V-E.

Now for the recipe…

PunkWife’s Delicious & Dairy-Free Creamy Avocado Lunch Shake

  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp honey (try and get local honey)
  • 2 tsp Dutch-pressed cocoa powder
  • 3 ice cubes (I use my bulletproof coffee cubes when I want an extra kick!)

Throw everything in a blender or bullet, blend together until smooth, and drink on-the-go!
