Banana Blackberry Breakfast Smoothie…

In this edition of ridiculously easy and extremely healthy breakfasts, I am featuring the Blackberry Banana Breakfast Smoothie.  Since it has only a few ingredients and can be whipped up in minutes, it’s a breakfast that is very much “work-friendly.” Before we go any further: do you own a Magic Bullet Blender System? If you do not already own one of these bad boys, you should consider buying one. You can find them at Bed Bath and Beyond, and for the machine itself as well as several cups and lids, along with a couple of blades, it will set you back no further than $49.99. The main blender is very small, so there is virtually no issue with counter space. Even better: find a co-worker who is interested in whipping up healthy shakes for breakfast, and split the cost of the machine. (To order on-line, click here.) You can each take a few cups home, and leave the blender itself at work. This way, all you need to do in the mornings is get your ingredients ready in your cup before you leave the house, and simply blend when you get to the office. (I used a regular-sized blender here, as you can see in the photos, since I made three servings; for a single serving, the Magic Bullet is ideal.) It’s simple, yummy, and healthy, and during the busy work week, who can beat that? Without further ado, here is the recipe:

Banana Blackberry Breakfast Smoothie

1 banana

1/2 cup fresh blackberries

1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

1 tsp honey

1 tbsp flax seeds

1/2 cup ice

Put all ingredients into blender, mix together.

Good to the last drop!

Wow, those smoothies look SO GOOD! Thanks for the great recipe, I’m going to have to give that a shot one of these mornings. Also, thanks for the heads up on the magic bullet. I’ve heard plenty about it, just never really looked too far into it. Sounds pretty handy!

No problem! Enjoy, it is delish! And yes, the MB is hands down one of the best additions to my kitchen…great for margaritas, too! 😉

‘@Al Smith Hi Al! I have actually been making it with blueberries lately, it’s really good! Great to meet you too 🙂 I have been meaning to get the books together. You just gave me an idea for a post – thank you! 🙂 I know what you mean about turning into a freak about it, the minute I finish one I’ve been picking another one right up. Book post is coming soon, so stay tuned…..

Wow I love that colour, looks great, and so fresh 😀 Seems more like a refreshing summer snack-drink than a breakfast smoothie though with all that ice!

‘@MattieTK Very good point! It really is a refreshing summer drink…the color makes you want to chug it lol….
