How to Make Your Home Smell Like Fall: Autumn Simmering Stovetop Recipe

5.0 from 1 vote

My house smells like fall right now, and you guys, it’s sooooooo good. Only, I’m not baking anything, and I don’t have candles lit. Instead, I have a pot of this simmering on my stovetop:

This is fall in a pot! And it’s satisfying my craving for an autumn scent in the home. I used to bring that in with scented candles, but several years ago I kicked my candle habit. The scented ones were giving me headaches and the majority of them are loaded with toxins. It just wasn’t worth it anymore.

(By the way, I found these which I am very happy with – they are one of the more realistic versions I’ve seen and you can turn them on with a remote. Too easy!)

My kids are gonna be sooooooo peeved when this aroma brings them downstairs and they find I haven’t baked anything, but they’ll forgive me when I bake them some pumpkin muffins later. The temporary disappointment will be worth it because I’m sort of obsessed with the way our home smells right now!

To take things up a notch for the fall, especially if you’re hosting a party or holiday, use this Autumn Simmering Stovetop Recipe – you will not be disappointed.

You simply fill yourself a pot with apples, oranges, and some fall spices like cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise, top with water, and simmer on low heat. Then go about your day and enjoy the delicious smell permeating your home.

Happy hosting!
